April 2022 ADT News Update

Dear Families, Caregivers, Support Staff and Providers,

We are ready to spring forward into learning Life and Social Skills in ADT. Please see our April calendar and bring in your $8.00 dues as soon as possible. Starting in May our monthly dues will increase to $10.00. What do the dues pay for you may ask? They help us provide the monthly parties, cooking activities, assorted arts & crafts, plus healthy snacks.

New Heights has a several new amenities and programs springing up, such as an Adult Sensory Room. This room is now a calmer color and will have a soft rubber foam flooring, low lighting with LED rope lights, a bubble sensory wall, a reclining chair, a swivel rocking chair, weighted blankets, tactile items, calming scents, soothing sound machines, stress relief equipment, and all that is needed to calm and self- regulate when days call for a sensory diet of pressure, touch, smell, and movement.

We also will expand our ADT program on April 4th to accommodate all three classrooms as New Heights Academy, an innovative approach to our program. We will focus on four key areas: Communication, Home & Life skills, Technology, and Navigating the World skills. Please refer to this news post for more information.

In April we will also start registration for our Life Skills Development Summer Program. This will allow twelve individuals each week, ages 17 & up to attend this summer. They will join us on our new journey through our four academies and all will be supported by our additional seasonal summer staff plus teen volunteers. This will allow those looking for an Adult Day Training Program to explore all that New Heights has to offer. Should you know of anyone who is looking for a summer program to enjoy one week, or even all 8 summer weeks, please send them our way. (View our 2022 summer flyer.)

As always, please keep a close eye on our website and social media pages to enjoy pictures and track progress each week. New Heights is in full bloom this Spring.

If we have not yet had the chance to meet, please call or email me so we can schedule a date to do so. Our team is growing, and we look forward to having fun while working on our daily goals.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Aleman
